Two girls on a poppyfield

This painting shows two girls (technically me and my little sister) in a poppyfield. When I was about 8 years old we moved to another house. Before my parents created a garden, a lot of wild poppies grew behind the house. It was the perfect playground for my siblings and me. A few days ago, I found this picture in my photo collection and thought it would be a great motive to paint. So I took my watercolors and this was the result.

Playing with watercolor pencils

Watercolor-paintings are so beautiful :) There are many different techniques and different material you can use, for this picture I used watercolor pencils from Faber Castell. For the picture of the fish I also used a grey marker. Watercolors are perfect for paintings with transparent objects like the jellyfish.

Nude drawing

Every artist should be able to draw nude drawings. However it's really hard to get the proportions right, the human body is such a complex thing... you could spend much time studying the anatomy just to learn to draw. I have no idea about anatomy, so I took pictures from a drawingbook as reference. I decided to draw female nudes here but I have also drawn some nudes of men, I will show them in an other post :)

Eyes with watercolors

This picture is drawn with watercolors. It was my intent that the reflections aren't white when the eyes are overlapping, like you can see in the lower left, however, now I think it don't look that good this way. But what I dislike most is that the iris of the big blue eye isn't really round. However all in all I like that picture :)

Cupcake

This was an exercise from the book "Die Kunst des Zeichnens Farbe". I used Polychromos from Faber Castell. The goal of this exercise was to train to draw shadows. I think the transitions in the frosting aren't smooth enough and may I should use stronger colors for the decoration to get a bigger contrast to the blue background.

Landscape with hands

This picture is drawn with watercolor-pencils (Albrecht Dürer from Faber Castell) and Polychromos (from Faber Castell). I like the idea of the picture but I'm not satisfied with the realization, there are to less details and some shadows are missing.

Little crystals

I really love the brightness of watercolors, but I have not much experience with watercolors, so I bought the  book "Everyday Watercolor" to get started. This was the exercise for the fourth day.

Girl with a gun

Here I also used an other picture as template. The picture is drawn with Polychromos from Faber Castell. The eyes are really creepy... to big and to overdone. I'm not satisfied with the whole face, the 3D character is missing... what do you think?

Dr Who Fanart

Sometimes Sundays are really boring, so I searched a picture to draw. Because I'm a big Dr. Who fan I decided to draw this picture. I used another picture from the internet as template. I've drawn the sky with watercolors, the clouds with white acrylics, the TARDIS and the stairs with a black fineliner and the stars with a white one.
